Haggling

With much of the mechanics for attributes, equipment, and other aspects of play left to the GM’s discretion, haggling by the players is not only encouraged but expected. Haggling allows players to advocate for themselves and their fellow party members when decisions are being made. This can involve discussions about the creation of new attributes, the enhancement or modification of existing ones, resolving damage through deficiencies, or determining how novel situations are handled mechanically during gameplay.

Players may propose ideas for attributes that fit their character’s concept or suggest alternative outcomes when damage is being dealt, such as trading part of the damage for a deficiency. They can also offer ideas for how certain challenges or situations should be resolved when the rules aren’t clearly defined. In all cases, players should actively participate in these conversations to ensure their characters are portrayed as they envision, while keeping the game fair and balanced.

The key to successful haggling is open communication between the players and the GM. While players are encouraged to present their case, the final decision always rests with the GM, whose role is to maintain balanced, fun, and fair play for everyone at the table. Haggling should be seen as a collaborative effort to enhance the story and create a shared understanding of the game’s mechanics.
